Our Story Begins with Benjamin and Maddie
Meet Benjamin and Maddison (Maddie), two Shih Tzus who filled our lives with joy for more than 15 years. Benjamin lived with a heart condition and later suffered a stroke, yet he showed remarkable resilience and stayed with us for another year. Maddie, our gentle girl, passed not long after Benjamin. Both left this world peacefully in my arms at home, surrounded by love.
Maddie also lived with Cushings's disease and a heart tumour - conditions that went undiagnosed despite years of vet visits. It was an incredibly frustrating and emotional journey. At time, it felt like we lived at the vet's office, juggling appointments day and night. We always made one thing clear: when the time comes, please tell us, so our fur babies never suffer. Their comfort was always our priority.

Why this Became My Mission
As Benjamin and Maddie aged, getting the right medical advice became more important than ever. But the rising cost of veterinary care is overwhelming for many families, especially when everyday living expenses are already so high. Pet insurance can be a lifeline, yet even that is becoming harder to afford.
These experiences opened my eyes to how difficult it can be to navigate senior pet care. The lack of clear and reliable guidance, the emotional weight of decision-making, and the financial strain inspired me to create something meaningful. Something that could help others facing the same challenges.
This is why Pet Vitality Australia exists.
Our Family Today: Buddy & Millie
Today, our home is filled with love thanks to Buddy and Millie, our two adorable Shih Tzus. Buddy are Millie are still both considered young dogs at this time with two years age difference. Over the years, our family has included a Kerry Blue Terrier, Chihuahua, a German Sherpherd and of course, our beloved Shih Tzus. Each one has left a lasting imprint on our hearts.
Buddy and Millie quickly became cherished members of our family, bringing joy, laughter and a reminder of why caring for animals is such a privilege.
Where We Live
We live on a beautiful property surrounded by wildlife. Up to 20 red-necked wallabies visit us regularly, along with a colourful array of birds - especially King Parrots. Recently a family of magpies has joined us, and their baby now runs up to us when called. All the animals and the dogs live harmoniously together as good friends. It reminds us daily of the beauty of animals and the importance of caring for them.
